LDL or “bad” cholesterol is the type of cholesterol conventional medicine spends all its time focusing on because it can stiffen and clog your arteries and lead to heart attack and stroke.

And what they ignore is HDL or “good” cholesterol.

Luckily, University of Southern California researchers are laser-focused on its benefits.

For the study, scientists measured the HDL particles found in the blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of 180 seniors.

At the end, they found that folks with more HDL particles in their spinal fluid performed better on cognitive tests, even if they were genetically predisposed to have Alzheimer’s.

Additionally, folks with higher levels of small HDL particles also had increased marker levels that indicate a lower risk of Alzheimer’s in their cerebrospinal fluid.

Researchers report that HDL cholesterol works by creating a shield around your brain and nerve cells.
