[PERFECT TIMING]: A New Hangover Cure Was Discovered…

One More Reason Why Krill Oil With Phospholipids Should Be An Everyday Thing

I would have never predicted this or even thought to conduct a research study.  Someone did though and I am glad they did.

Occasionally, we all overdo it and have one too many alcoholic beverages.  The morning after is usually a rough one.  Lack of sleep, dehydration, and possibly even nausea depending on how many drinks you had.

Well, it has been uncovered that our krill oil (Omega Icon) can help alleviate nausea and even dehydration (thirst).

When your body is breaking down the alcohol and removing it there is a byproduct called acetaldehyde.  Acetaldehyde creates oxidative stress and inflammation within the body and causes damage to the cells.

How you feel the next morning after a night of drinking depends on how fast your body can metabolize acetaldehyde and how fast you can get rid of it.

Krill oil works at a cellular level which helps us deal with aging, oxidative stress, inflammation, diseases, and more.  Since we know this alcohol byproduct causes oxidative stress and inflammation, we want to consume krill oil to stop this.

Scientists gave drinkers 1000mg of krill oil before drinking the equivalent of four pints.  The participants reported that they had significantly lower levels of dehydration and nausea, which are signs of a hangover compared to those who took the placebo.

It was discovered that krill oil stops acetaldehyde from being produced.  Researchers at Seoul’s Sejong University tested krill oil on 21 men and women between the age of 20 and 55.

The participants were given 1000mg of krill oil and then supplied with alcoholic drinks.  It roughly translated to the male participants drinking around 4.5 pints of lager and women drinking just under 3 glasses of wine.

Participants were asked to rate each hangover symptom every hour until five hours had passed.  The scale was from 1 to 5 with one being almost unaffected and five being severe.  Blood and breath tests were also conducted.

Those who consumed the krill oil prior to drinking reported a score of 1 for nausea whereas the placebo group had a score of 1.47 half an hour after drinking.

For thirst, the krill oil group reported minor levels of thirst (1.2), but this came back down to 1 after the 3-hour mark.  The placebo group peaked at 1.7 thirty minutes after starting and stayed at 1.6 until the end (5-hour mark).

The results from the blood and breath tests also showed that those who consumed the krill oil also had significantly lower levels of alcohol in their system.

Of course, this is just one study and a small population of people, but it suggests that krill oil can be used as a potential anti-hangover supplement.

It also shows its antioxidant ability may reduce breath and blood alcohol levels as well.

This doesn’t mean you can go out get obliterated and expect that you will be able to function.

Though if you take our Omega Icon krill oil be sure to take 2 capsules right before you start drinking and see if you get the same results as the participants did in this placebo-controlled study.
